This Week In Jams (TWIJ) is a sequenced weekly playlist featuring songs I think my friends and future friends (like you) may want to hear.
Not counting all the remixes and covers, Tame has 14 This Week In Jams features, while Toro has 27!!! So when Toro announced a new album and Tame Impala decided to follow up his excellent 2021 album with a B-side EP, it was only a matter of time before this playlist happened.
Putting this together sent me across many genres and decades. We have 2022 pop jams right next to 1999 dance tracks! We have a 2-minute song next to a 17-minute song! I am a sick person 🤷🏿♂️
Update: If you’re seeing this post now, This Week In Jams has been refreshed. No need to fear, you can find this particular playlist here:
Here are a few non-Toro or Tame tracks you should check out:
“where I become someone” ft. Benny Sings – Neil Frances
Neil Frances has pumped out superb tracks for years and has finally released their debut LP in 2022. Sprinkle in a little Benny Sings feature and it’s game over.
“Our Love” – Caribou
I’m planning to re-do my end of year rankings, but I’m sure this track will stay pretty close to the Top 10 songs of 2014. I can’t believe it has not been on a TWIJ playlist yet (I have failed you all)!
“Neutered Fruit” – St. Vincent
St. Vincent is no TWIJ slouch either, coming in with 22 all-time features. This track is one of the many favorites from her 2011 stunner, Strange Mercy.
